Sofa, So Good

Not the most exiting start to the day. We’re off to St Gaudens to meet with an accountant. I took my laptop with me for the drive so that I wasn’t losing time before everyone breaks for Christmas. Naturally, the French phone rang twice while we were out. The first call was from Pat, he’s going to leave it round the back. Seems that the second letter has to be signed for so is going to Marignac post office.

Still having some problems with the clutch apparently so glad that Matt is driving. He’s not convinced it’s good enough to get to Toulouse (yet again). That means Tonia’s going to have to get the train down so we’ll have to check times etc when we are back. Very foggy today.

On the way back we swing via the Cierp Gaud post office to collect the package for Matt that has been there for about a week. What a ridiculous sized box… if they’d just put it in an envelope we wouldn’t have had to go to the post office to collect it!

Marignac post office is a bust, the woman that rang must still be out doing other deliveries so will have to come back again tomorrow. Good news though, we have finally received Matt’s bag. Looks as though the cheese is ok. There happened to be a temperature recorder in the bag and doesn’t look as though it’s gotten too hot.

Back home to work. Ooh this is exciting though, seems that I have a package from Peter. Brilliant, all the things that you need to survive in France in one box – so long as your survival requires food from South East Asia and fortune cookies. A great selection of things though and such a lovely surprise. Thank you!

Back to work for me while Matt clears a bit of space for the furniture delivery which is due later today. Ooh, looks as though he’s also got the new doorbell out. Seems to work and should hopefully save quite a few phone calls from Pat, I hope he appreciates it.

New doorbell works a treat as now I can hear when someone is at the door from the bedroom. Also means that the furniture delivery must be here so best go and help. I say help, of course all I’m doing is translating. Matt and the driver are doing all the fetching and carrying. Seems that they have missed the lamp though. It’s not urgent that we get it, so after a quick call to his boss he confirms that he’ll drop it off next time he’s going past which is fine.

Once he’s gone we take the kitchen door off and swap the furniture round so we have the new sofa, chair and armchair in the one of the two rooms we actually use. Looks lovely and gives us a bit more space. We can now both sit comfortably on our laptops which is an improvement.

And back to work again. Meanwhile Matt is plugging away at his spreadsheet, planning all the sockets. I finish up my work and start of the blog updates. Might as well have a relaxed evening as our little worker bee will be here tomorrow so we don’t want to have too much done. We’ll just sit back, relax, eat ice cream, and watch some TV before bed.

    1. It’s not been too crazy cold so far but definitely on the horizon – oddly enough along with a couple of days at 17-18. Crazy French weather. You’d need Matt to give a more accurate answer

  1. Haha judging by the blog I figured that hand cream, warm socks and instant noodles were likely to be the priorities for the next year. Have a lovely Christmas! Px

    1. You’re not wrong. Thank god the wine is cheap to help you get through it! The care package was much appreciated and I am missing you and the team a lot. I wish they’d open the ski resorts (and borders) so you could come visit early next year!
