Kitchen and the de-sh*tery
Friday
Managed to move my call with the PS half an hour earlier which was good as Matt’s keen to get up to St Gaudens this morning as apparently Lidl has a new rotovator in the sale that started yesterday. We checked Montrejeau, St Gaudens and Luchon but none of them had one, or the larger greenhouse I wanted. The trip wasn’t an entire bust though, managed to pick up a new cold frame and a few other bits and pieces. Also managed to get a lot of work reading done on the drive which was a bonus.
Up at St Gaudens I also managed to work out the pumps for the little paraffin heater we use to heat the living room and bathroom. Pretty proud of myself, even if Matt did have to tell me the pin for our French account multiple times.

Back at the house ready for afternoon work calls. Quick break outside to put in the new mole deterrent, no idea if it will work but apparently they can ruin crops around here by eating out the roots and you don’t know until the top just falls over. Worth a shot and if I’m going to spend all this time preparing my plots by hand then why not.
Dinner time again and we have a surplus of potatoes and lardons. As far as I know, there’s only one thing for it, Tartiflette.
Seems I have a request for some more work from Matt #3. Going to have to put in some weekend and/or evening hours to get up to speed on the client docs and start to develop our win themes. Thankfully I managed a first pass while Matt (#1) was watching TV before a rather late game of mini golf with the kids. Matt’s headed to bed but was good to speak to Lee after the match, love you x

Saturday
Well it seems that drinking port like it was wine wasn’t my best ever plan. All I know is that Matt gets up far too early! I’ve spent some time chatting to Lucy and enjoying being in bed but, after a trip to the shops, it seems that someone wants my attention. Thankfully, I am a great negotiator, and he came bearing tea. He was very savvy however in using the lovely mug my mother had made from our civil ceremony rather than the cups that keep the tea warm for ages. Well played Mr Camp, one all.

Ugh, of course. The one thing that you really want, when you might have a mild hangover, is to be working alongside this.
There’s nothing quite like the gentle wafting breeze on your face coming from an SDS hammer drill cracking through concrete. However, I might have a reprieve, it seems that these little things in Matt’s hand are super important but the bottom one is worn down to the metal already which can screw the motor. Looks like we have to stop.

Still have a heap of things to clear up though and Matt wants to take another load to the dechetterie today (yes, hard standing base etc but we’ll come back to that). I just need a nap. Unfortunately it’s not on the cards, so we’re having lunch and loading up the car instead.
Oh, maybe I caught a break, seems that the engine is making some sort of noise.

Sadly, no such luck. Seems that the coolant is low which can be easily fixed and now we have an additional trip to Luchon into the bargain to get something for the car, yay! I guess I should be grateful that hopefully it should be fixed with about €50 of stuff. At the dechetterie it becomes clear that the bags may be a little too heavy for me to move on my own… And as we head to Luchon we get stuck in what can only be considered to be country style traffic.
What great news, we’ve managed to source a temporary replacement SDS drill for just €30.

Back at home and the new drill is straight to use. Clearly sparks are flying between Matt and I today 😉
It’s been a long old day but we’ve definitely made some good progress.
You wouldn’t believe that we’d been to the dechetterie today with this little lot having mounted up so quickly. Was interesting to see the cigarette butt in the concrete, I wonder if we could have it DNA tested to see who put in the dubious flooring?!
Time to call mum and share our success and for Matt to heat up dinner. Absolutely exhausted, I wish we had a hot tub to soak away the aches and pains.. Time for some R&R. Night all xx
