Marignac Rave Scene – 24-26 Aug

Wednesday

Back to normal again today. I’m doing some more work for Lambeth and Matt has lots of calls. In addition, I stripped the beds and got the sheets on to wash, folded all the laundry that’s been sitting around for last week and had a short break in the afternoon between calls as was far too hot and needed a swim. Meow however thinks it’s too hot and she has decided instead to take residence in my veg collecting basket.

Once it cooled down in the evening we decided to finish paid work and get a bit more work done on the house, well once I finished cleaning the kitchen and mopping the floors, then it was time to help Matt with the plasterboard.

The space under the windows is going to take some additional consideration in how we can secure it and whether we want to use the thicker stuff as the wall is obviously significantly thinner here too. But it’s taking shape and Matt’s promised that he will finish getting the insulation cut for the other wall tomorrow.

Time to sit back and watch some videos about large format tiling and then relaxation and blog writing before bed.

Thursday

Busy day of work but we did get to doing a bit more work on the insulation of Room 3. Pretty pleased with that. Still needs that paper stripping from around the windows and under the windows doing, but it’s ready for the new ceiling to go up and that’s the current focus. One day we’ll get round to finishing the rest but we have to have the whole of the first floor done for the start of October and we’ve got some leave planned too.

Making pork for dinner this evening and so have been out in the garden to dig up some of the potatoes, if only I knew exactly where I put them. I managed to find a few, not sure if the others didn’t grow or if I’ve just missed them somehow.

Friday

We need to finish work on time today as we’ve very kindly been invited out for a very fancy dinner by Jonny and Cressida. As a thank you for looking after the dogs they’re taking us to Er Occitain – a Michelin starred restaurant over the border in Bossost, Spain. Who are we to say no?!

Thank you JC, we had a fantastic meal and wonderful company, what a great evening.

Much to our surprise it wasn’t ending there. Once dropped home we remembered that the Marignac festival is on this weekend. While we obviously weren’t going for the dinner there’s meant to be live music on in the town square, and boy was there. While they were close to an hour late getting out from dinner and getting the party started the last thing I was expecting was a full on rave. It was a lot of fun and must have been going till around 3am! Who knew our little village was so rocking?!
