Real human people!

Thursday

Another day another dollar, so they say, however I felt that I could happily have given it all a miss for today. The highlight of the day however was a lovely package from my mother 🙂

Looks as though I have some more seeds to plant, I mean I was a bit short on seeds and the spring pots are past it now. Weather today however was so good that I even managed to coax Matt out of the office into the garden office. Guess it’s not so bad after all.

Matt saw Grumps again today apparently. I however went on two cat hunts and found nothing but a butterfly that held still long enough for a photo and the second of Matt’s fruits from the garden, a little wild strawberry.

Drinks on the porch and a quick catch up with Pete, also had dinner which was lovely as we had a nice Thai beef salad, the cat also wanted to have some and was quite insistent. She was sadly unsuccessful.

I got a few more bits and pieces potted up and trying to circulate things through the cold frame. Still a lot more to go and sounds as though Joelle and Oliver are doing better than me at getting things in the ground. Hopefully we might get there soon though, I think Matt wants his house back.

Friday

Spotted Grumps again today, she’s definitely pretty big, can’t be too long off now.

She didn’t seem interested in the biscuits however so must be getting plenty of food. Matt had thrown a load towards her down the stairs but sure they won’t go to waste as Meow will be round at some point and be thrilled.

I helped Matt to feed the pipes, then he went to fit everything to fit everything together.

While he was working in the basement I potted up the mint and also added in the tiny thyme and rosemary. Hopefully these will all grow nicely and we’ll have a lovely pot of fragrant herbs for the kitchen. I also spotted the first of the Nigella, or ‘love in a mist’, starting to flower.

Tried to have a treat after dinner which quite literally almost became a bun fight as Meow was trying hard to grab the eclair from Matt while he was eating it.

Saturday

It seems that Matt has bought a solar fountain to adorn our bidet. It’s an interesting addition.

We were then off down to Luchon to the bricos but since we arrived early we popped into the garden centre and picked up a couple of fuschias. We had a small one in London which did great and flowered for so long that it seemed like a good addition. Back at the house I’ve potted them up but now I’ve switched things around it seems I’m going to need another two pots to fill the gap but I only have one as I used the one for the herbs yesterday – blast. Will have to wait and see if we can get some more matching ones from Action next week.

Next up is the tomatoes, and there are a few of them… Almost done and it is time for dinner.

Today we have steak, salad and potatoes, before back to finally finish off the potting up. Ta da! Done.

Sunset this evening was very pretty and hopefully bodes well for tomorrow.

Sunday

Matt was off early as he wanted to pop into Carefour before it closed. I however took the opportunity to message Cressida and confirm our quick visit for 2pm this afternoon. Unfortunately, I then fell back to sleep and it was nearly 2:30 by the time I woke up, oops! Thankfully they were incredibly understanding and so I grabbed some quick lunch before we headed out.

It is so nice to be able to see people face to face. It’s great being able to have some wine, relax with friends, chat about anything and everything, and just have some fun. Obviously we were both very laid back and nonchalant about it all, we’re pretty cool cats like that!

Their pool is going to be incredible and it’s so deep. Their house is lovely and their dogs, I love their dogs. Matt was on driving duty but the quick hour ‘pop round’ got rather extended and I think I could have stayed forever chatting away. Eventually however it was soon home-time, there’s only so much non-alcoholic beer one man can take, and wine a Chaney should be out drinking on a Sunday! It’s only a few miles up the road to theirs but they are definitely going to have to have them come and stay – need to get their visits out the way before their pool is done and we move in to theirs 😉

Oh.. so it seems that Matt did take pictures. So, here we are… this is me and my friend Cressida, looking really nonchalant about spending time together! 🙂 Thank you both for being such great hosts, I can’t wait to repay the favour (and the not inconsiderable wine debt I may have created – you know it was just a ruse, right?!)
