Double trouble
Wednesday
The day started off easy enough with an expectation of just doing some video editing and then getting some gardening done. My plans were scuppered however with an email from my other employers asking for a quick bid review proposal.
First things first though Matt gave me a crash course in video editing – I can’t honestly say I am great at it but I think I managed it ok.
Before I start the next project, I take 5 mins for a quick look around the garden. Looks as though we have one unexpected hyacinth over by the old aviary (or tombstone as I like to call it). I found a rather large grey and black cat in Meow’s favourite spot (the not-walled garden), the daffodils in full bloom pretty much, and my garlic coming along well up in the veg patch.
Garden check done and it’s time to get back to work. Matt in the meantime was doing a bit more work on the plastering.

Unfortunately I am so distracted I managed to miss my one call today.. Opps! I did however get sign off to do a quick and dirty on the bid review though and they need it in 24 hours. It’s going to be a long evening but thankfully I do all my best work at night.
Good thing too, as we first need to go back down to Luchon. The Lidl sander packed up after about 10 minutes work yesterday and apparently it’s too much work to do by hand – slacker! 😉 Anyway, that means I have to go with Matt back down to Luchon to get it replaced. Cue pretty picture from the drive…

We got told off for picking up a replacement from the shelf rather than going straight to the desk when we arrived, not exactly sure what that is all about but hey ho, if them’s the crazy way of doing things then fine. Other than that however the whole experience was both incredibly and surprisingly painless. So job done.
Back to the ranch and it is definitely time for work. Matt wandered down to Intermarche briefly while I moved my chair out to the porch to make the most of the sun. It wasn’t long till he was back though and the fibreglass mesh and epoxy apparently arrived yesterday, so he is making a start on trying to repair the 500L water butts for the garden. Not one to usually complain about the fixing of very useful garden stuff but I was constantly interrupted by requests to help cut, place and find things. He did get a lot of epoxy on things though so probably for the best.
I think tub 1 is looking pretty good. Apparently tub 2 is a multi-phase job. I think that maybe if he’d set it up right in the first place he may have managed in 1, but he’s fixing things I want, so I’m going to push out the benevolent boat and roll with it 😉
As the sun fades and temperature slides it’s back inside for Matt’s conference call and me to get on with my review. Before I know it, it’s already 7:30 and Matt has dinner ready. Leftovers and freezer-to-oven tartiflette – not as good as homemade but not bad.

More work while Matt watches TV, then super hot showers and some wonderful hairstyling if I say so myself (at least looks great when you can’t see it).
Finally reached work fatigue though so a quick break before getting the blog updated and going to bed. Balls! Forgot to call EDF again, will add to tomorrow’s list!
