The last supper… and back to work (home)

Happy birthday to my brother! Not a lot happening over here so Tonia and I went to fill in the rest of the large pot holes in the garden. At 35kg each the bags are a bit heavy to be trundling around yourself, I’m glad I suggested that we just dump them in the driveway though.

Matt has had a go at filling the rather large gap in the window with some sealant. I can’t honestly tell you that it was a resounding success but it wasn’t a complete failure either.

The one thing I have to do is to get this sewing machine working properly again so that I can get Doug’s masks finished. It was not a fun job and I could see that Matt was getting very irritated by it. I am doing my best to research and work out what the problem is.

While we never managed to fix it completely, with a combination of sewing the thin layers on the machine and some hand stitching they are finally done.

It has honestly taken me much more time and effort than I was initially expecting but am glad that Tonia can take them back for me. I’m also pleased that, as for all the pub owners that have had such a terrible time of it, Doug will have something bespoke for his staff to wear proudly – once they can open again of course!

Since it is her final dinner Tonia has kindly chosen to cook for us. We are having a starter of cordon blue chicken followed by a ham and chesse pizza main. I’ll take it, I love it when I don’t have to cook.

Time to relax and finish off Warrior Nun and the last epsiode of season 2 of Money Heist before bed.

Monday and it’s back to work for me and Matt. Tonia is busy packing. Due to calls and the dodgy clutch she is going to have to brave the French train again but it seems that it’s pretty simple and comfortable. A quick run up to St Gaudens to drop her off and say goodbye.

I was feeling much better once I knew she was on the train, I had no idea what we would do if the train got cancelled as Matt had meetings in the afternoon and I wasn’t happy to drive the car all the way to Toulouse. Thankfully the train arrived and we had regular updates as she progressed.

Back home and it’s the standard cheese and pates for lunch.

More work. Since Matt was so busy I thought I’d make him dinner for when he finished. It was about half eight by the time he was done so he was pleased not to have to cook.

A bit of TV and Matt decides to pop his head out the front door. Well who’d have known it, it’s only snowing!

Apparently he didn’t so much appreciate the snowball. In my defence, I thought he was bending down to make one himself so thought I would beat him to the punch – he wasn’t – but lucky for you it was caught on the doorbell cam. I laugh every time I watch it back!

Back in the [not so] warm and we need to do some more programming (my type not Matt’s). Having roughly walked me through what needs to be done for a couple of he kitchen walls Matt is over it and off to bed while I finish it up. There’s nothing like a good project plan to finish off the first day back to work!

    1. There are currently a number of options but ideally we will get the existing windows/doors double glazed. If that’s not possible we may have to get new ones put in but that might also require permission from the marie.
