Stripping, but no one here to see it
It’s been a pretty slow week as I have mostly been concentrating on work.
Monday.
I worked all day. In the evening I had steak and chips. Also managed to get a bit more stripping done in the kitchen.

Tuesday.
All morning working. Break for lunch so first job was to measure and count the number of gaps between the beams which run under the kitchen. Result! Looks like I may have also found the missing fuse box for the ground floor.
Postie has been. It was like pass the parcel, there were 6 layers before I got down to the gift inside. It’s the replacement unit for the new car. I can add that to Matt’s list of jobs.
Matt’s just asked me to measure the depth of the floor above the rafters in the basement. Hmm… about 7cm. The underfloor heating idea may be a no go, not sure it will heat through that.
More work, another busy day. Time to light the fire. Oh my god, I hate these firelighters so much. They are useless. The paper has all burnt and the firelighter is just scorched. This thing irritates me so very much. I just wanted to have a fire but it took over 2 hours.

Leftover steak (they only come in a pack of two) and chips for dinner again. Now to get a bit more stripping done.
Call with Matt and then off to bed.
Wednesday
Was going to have a day off but had an early meeting and now it’s lunchtime. I swear that there are only about 7 hours in each day. Finally wrapped a few things up though so can get on with that ‘day off’.
Since the fire has been so useless I’d better bring a load more wood in to try to get it to dry out a bit more.

We’ve had this bag of keys for a while so I guess I will start with the key game. I selected a range of older looking keys, similar to the one in the salon door, and started there. Took a surprisingly long time but I think I now have: Room 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7, 1st floor bathroom, armoire and maybe room 2.

Internet is down so I’m going to have a trip down to Luchon. Couldn’t get anything that I wanted but somehow managed to still spend £50. I do have some champagne for Matt’s return though. Also still had to stop in at Intermarche to get some new firelighters, I can’t put up with those other ones any longer.
Back at home and the internet is finally working again. Had some pizza and a few chats.

A bit more stripping done but it’s well after midnight now so best go to bed.
Thursday.
Another busy day at work. Matt is home tomorrow though so have a few things to get done in advance. Sheets need changing but if the last load of washing is anything to go by then I am going to need to unpack the dryer first. In fact that was surprisingly easy considering the battle I had to get the washing machine of the base packing. Sheets are in.

Pizza for dinner and a bit more stripping done.

Going to try a new thing tonight and pack the logs across the front of the fire when I go to bed so they can absorb the remaining heat, and hopefully will burn easier.
